Exciting events are planned for October 17-19, 2013 (during the campus Homecoming) to celebrate the creation of the new School of Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and the 50th anniversary of the founding of our Department.
Events commence on Thursday the 17th with an afternoon career and internship fair for our students (undergrads, grads, majors and non-majors alike) and alums. Alums are encouraged to participate in the fair as representatives or recruiters for their company or if any are currently looking for a new position. A career panel will also be held, where alums reflect on their UMass experience and offer advice on preparing and applying for jobs and internships. Refreshments/networking will follow the panel.
Friday the 18th will be a day-long exploration of an expansive and outward-looking view of computing, and its impact across the campus and state, and in society. There will be panels on expanding horizons in computing, computing as a core subject in a 21st century education, computing across the campus, and computing research. An evening alumni social and dinner will allow you to (re-)connect with friends, faculty and other members of the UMass CS family.
On the morning of Saturday the 19th we will offer a "hands-on" exploration of wearable computing and robotics. Fun for the whole family!
