Celebrate the career and accomplishments of Jim Kurose

Join us in April 2024 to celebrate the career and accomplishments of Distinguished Professor Emeritus Jim Kurose, who retired in Spring 2023 after over 40 years at UMass Amherst.

An educator and computer networking researcher by trade, Jim has also served in several administrative roles at the university, including interim dean of the College of Natural Sciences, and most recently as associate chancellor for partnerships and innovation. In 2015, Jim took on the role of assistant director at the National Science Foundation, leading the Directorate of Computer and Information Science Engineering for five years, during which time he advised the White House and Congress on cybersecurity, AI, and high-performance and quantum computing. He is perhaps most well-known as the co-author, with Keith Ross, of “Computer Networking a Top-Down Approach” (now in its 8th edition).

Registration for this event is now closed. Please email alumni [at] cs.umass.edu with any questions.
