McKesson Corp. to visit CS on Oct. 16th

Learn about a local software firm, and eat pizza! - Visit with McKesson Corp. Researchers on October 16, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. in CS 150.

Did you know that there's a commercial software firm just down the road in Hadley? McKesson is the world's largest healthcare services company with more than $90 billion in annual sales. Their office started in the 70s as Amherst Associates, a spin-off company from the UMass School of Public Health. Their software caught the attention first of HBO&Company and then McKesson who acquired them in 1998. They're in the Performance Management/Business Intelligence domain, keywords "Eclipse, Hibernate, Java, Oracle, MSSQL server, webserver" and more.

Over the years, they've hired UMass students as interns, and many of their employees are alums. They currently have open entry level (new BA/BS) positions in software engineering, testing, and technical support, as well as internships appropriate for undergrads. They think it's time they developed a closer relationship with the Computer Science department. On Thursday, October 16, 4 members of R&D - including their newest UMass hire - will come to talk with you about McKesson, their Hadley office, and their technology, and enjoy pizza.

Please join McKesson, 4-5pm on October 16, 2008 in CS room 150.
