Teaching Seminar: Teaching Demo Using Dynamic Memory Allocation and Vectors

09 Mar
Thursday, 03/09/2023 10:00am to 11:00am
Computer Science Building, Room 150/151
Seminar
Speaker: Thomas Rossi

Abstract: This seminar uses a lecture on dynamic memory allocation and vectors from C++ as a way to demonstrate my teaching style and some of the ways I look to convey information to students. After the sample lecture there will be a discussion around some of the pedagogical approaches taken in the lecture as well as some that are used outside of the lecture to help reinforce the topic. Attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop to join in for a coding activity that will take place during the live lecture.

Bio: Thomas Rossi is a lecturer in Computer Science and Software Engineering at Penn State Behrend. His research focuses on improving the post-secondary experience for students through the use of current computing tools and technologies. Thomas graduated with his M.S. in Computer Science from the University of New Hampshire in 2016.
