Product Management Club: Technical Fluency in Product Management

17 Mar
Wednesday, 03/17/2021 7:00pm to 8:00pm
Student-Run Event

We are really excited to collaborate with RocketBlocks to bring you a Technical Fluency Workshop! One of the core skills that tech companies seek in PM candidates is technical fluency - because if you can't communicate effectively with engineers your PM career will be short.

In this deep dive, Kenton Kivestu will define what technical fluency is (e.g., does it mean a CS degree, ability to code or just to work effectively with engineering?), highlight the types of interview questions used to gauge it and provide tips for how to answer successfully.

Kenton is the CEO and Founder of RocketBlocks. Prior to RocketBlocks, he helped launch ad platforms at Google, advised Fortune 100 companies as a Consultant in BCG's SF office, and led the Zynga mobile poker franchise (first mobile app to hold #1 top-grossing position simultaneously on iTunes and Google Play). He started RocketBlocks to provide candidates an affordable, high-quality way to build critical skills tested in consulting and PM interviews.

The ACM Product Management Club meets weekly on Wednesday nights to discuss trends in technology, conduct product thinking seminars, work on case studies, read books, and occasionally prep together for PM recruitment. All UMass Amherst undergrad/grad students and faculty interested in learning more about product management concepts are welcome! If you are unable to make it one week, don't sweat it we'll see ya next week!
