Diversity Networking Reception

The Diversity Networking Reception is for UMass students of diverse backgrounds to meet employers more informally who are hiring several majors for full-time jobs or internships. Even if you met them at the Career Blast or another fair, stop by anytime from 3-4pm in Room 168C on the lower level of the Campus Center & say hello, grab a snack, get a door prize and leave with contacts. Bring your friends! 

Organizations such as: Amazon, TJX, Wayfair, Sherwin-Williams, SunLife Financial, Travelers, Veeva, Farm Credit East, Unum, PepsiCo,  Springfield Public Schools, New York Hotel Trades Council, VT State Police, to name a few. 

Students from historically underrepresented backgrounds  are encouraged to attend: students of color, first generation students, students with disabilities/learning differences, LGBTQ+, etc. 

This is an informal event, and you do not need to stay the hour, as employers will be coming and going.  Before you stop in....

• Practice your introduction (Elevator Pitch), so you know what skills, and accomplishments you can offer to an organization and what you are looking for... a ft job or summer internship.
• Have a good firm handshake and good eye contact.
• Dress nicely. Resumes are optional, but if you have one, bring them.
• Ask for business cards when you are done speaking with a recruiter.  Then, you can follow-up with a thank you note to show your interest
