Zoom Meeting
Diversity & Inclusion

The current COVID-19 pandemic and the murder of George Floyd have opened the deep wounds of racial injustice and we are witnesses to the American peoples' emotional responses in the form of protests, riots, and activism. The CICS Office of Diversity and Inclusion is offering faculty an opportunity to join us in a book group that will help develop communication skills and prepare for engagement with People of Color (POC) in their lives: students, coworkers, family members, friends, or people we may meet in line at the grocery store, library, gym, etc. Not knowing what or how to say something when speaking with POC can be scary and create barriers. We would like to provide you with an opportunity to get it all wrong, in a judgment-free space, so you have a better chance of not making those mistakes with co-workers, students or others. We hope you will consider joining us in this book group because it can provide you with an opportunity to view the world from a different lens and learn about others' lived experiences.

The dates and times will be forthcoming and we will do our best to choose a time and day where the most people can participate. It is important that you complete the Google Form at the link below soon if you will be participating.

Meetings will be scheduled weekly for (1) hour and attendance is not mandatory. Our plan will be to meet from the end of June until the end of July.
