The Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS) is grateful to all the donors who supported and celebrated CICS during UMassGives 2024.

Donors supported the Experiential Learning Fund, which allows CICS students to build technical, leadership, and professional skills through experiential learning by supporting conferences, competitions, and hackathons for student organizations such as HackHer413, WICS, PIT, CICSoft, and Fresh CICS.

Gifts were also received for the Dean’s Opportunity Fund, a resource and development fund that primarily supports scholarships, including the Dean’s International Scholarship and the Dean’s Merit Scholarship, which also serves as a flexible resource to pursue new opportunities and respond to needs as they arise. The Dean’s International Scholarship assists international students who are faced with travel and other expenses in order to attend the program, and the Dean’s Merit Scholarship recognizes academic excellence, passion for computer science, and innovation in computer science applications, providing student support to purchase equipment and tech for hands-on activities and more.

Black Women United, PIT@UMass, and the Public Interest Technology Club (PIT) all led key fundraising efforts for CICS during the 2-day fundraising event as well, helping CICS to raise a total of $29,235 from 161 gifts— an increase in both donors and dollars over last year!

Campus-wide, overwhelming support led to a historic UMassGives with more than 10,000 ambassadors coming together, marking the first time the university has surpassed the 10,000 gift mark for this event. This year was the most successful UMassGives ever, with more than $2.3 million in donations to the departments, student groups, academic centers, and programs that mean the most to them. Donors from 34 countries and 48 states ensured that our students, no matter their major, academic interest, or co-curricular involvement, will continue to benefit from an exceptional experience at the state’s flagship campus.

We are grateful for the collective effort of our CICS alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents, and friends. By supporting CICS during UMassGives, you provided students with opportunities to focus on their coursework, research, and career goals. Thank you!
