The Office of Faculty Development (OFD) has named Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS) Senior Teaching Faculty member Michelle Trim one of three recipients of the 2025–2026 UMass Amherst Delphi Leadership Award. The honor recognizes her leadership and advocacy on behalf of non-tenure-track (NTT) faculty, particularly her contributions to shared governance and efforts to strengthen faculty support structures across campus.
In the Faculty Senate, Trim has held several leadership roles, including chair of the University Writing Committee and chair of the Faculty Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Revising the Diversity General Education Requirement. She also served as co-chair of the Joint Task Force on Generative AI and is the first NTT faculty member to chair the Rules Committee.
Beyond the Senate, Trim has contributed to campus leadership as a Chancellor’s Leadership Fellow. Within CICS, she secured grant funding to support the hiring of three lecturers and co-led the design of a new system for measuring teaching loads. She is also the first NTT faculty member to serve as a faculty delegate to the Board of Trustees.
The Delphi Leadership Award honors three NTT faculty members each year who demonstrate exceptional leadership and innovative contributions in support of their peers at UMass Amherst. Each recipient receives a $1,500 award.
