UMass Amherst Chancellor Javier Reyes presents Manning CICS Distinguished Professor Ramesh K. Sitaraman with a Chancellor's Citation.

Ramesh K. Sitaraman, associate dean of educational programs and teaching and distinguished professor at the Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS), discussed his work on online content delivery and shared a vision for a more robust and sustainable internet as part of the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Spring 2026 Distinguished Faculty Lecture Series

Sitaraman delivered his lecture, “Keeping the World Connected: Building a Faster, Smarter, and Greener Internet,” on March 3, 2026, in the university’s Old Chapel. The talk highlighted his work in academia and private industry on content delivery networks (CDNs), while also exploring the opportunities and environmental challenges that artificial intelligence presents for the future of the internet. 

Established in 1974, the Distinguished Faculty Lecture Series acknowledges the work of the university's most esteemed and accomplished faculty members. Each honoree is presented with the Chancellor’s Medal, the highest recognition bestowed upon faculty by the campus.
