In the U.S. News & World Report rankings published on Sept. 23, the Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS) at UMass Amherst ranks #35 among 601 ranked public and private undergraduate computer science programs in the nation, one of only three Massachusetts institutions, and the only public university, to place in the top 40.
Among public undergraduate computer science programs, CICS is ranked #16 nationally and maintains the #1 spot among public programs in the Northeast.
At the campus level, the University of Massachusetts Amherst maintained its status as one of the nation's best public universities, ranking #29 in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Guide.
