In the U.S. News & World Report rankings published this week, the Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS) at UMass Amherst ranks #21 among all 210 ranked public and private graduate computer science programs in the nation, up three spots from the 2024 rankings and tied with Johns Hopkins University, Yale University, and University of Southern California.

Among public graduate computer science programs, CICS is ranked #9 nationally and maintains the #1 spot among public programs in the Northeast.

The U.S. News & World Report graduate computer science rankings reflect the judgment of deans and senior faculty members at programs from peer institutions. U.S. News also uses peer assessment to evaluate graduate programs in four computer science specialty areas: Artificial Intelligence, Programming Languages, Systems, and Theory. Of those, CICS ranks #13 for Artificial Intelligence, up three spots from the 2024 ranking.

A complete list of rankings and more information about the rankings methodology are available on the U.S. News website.
