Dr. Malini K. Bhandaru '98PhD is a technology leader with nearly 30 years of experience in AI infrastructure, cloud computing, confidential computing, distributed systems, and open-source software. She has held senior engineering and leadership roles at AMD, Intel, VMware, Nuance, and several technology startups. Her work has spanned AI platforms, cloud-native architectures, edge computing, autonomous driving infrastructure, hardware design for power and performance efficiency, and developer ecosystems. She has helped shape technologies and open-source communities, including the Open Platform for Enterprise AI (OPEA), Confidential Containers, Kubernetes, Kubeflow, EdgeX Foundry, and OpenStack. She chaired the OPEA Technical Steering Committee, served on the KubeCon, Open Source Summit, and OpenStack program committees, and co-authored the OpenStack Security Guide.
Malini holds a PhD in Computer Science from UMass Amherst, has 21 granted patents, and 12 more filed. She is a frequent conference speaker, a committed mentor, a STEM coach, and is passionate about helping women and emerging technologists grow in their careers.
She is an avid gardener and a San Jose Municipal Rose Garden master volunteer.
