About
After working as an engineer for three years, Jaime Dávila came to the U.S. to pursue graduate studies in 1991 and completed a PhD in computer science from the City University of New York in 1999. His PhD dissertation dealt with computer-based parsing and semantic analysis of English sentences via neural networks. After doing scholarly work in that field for 20 years, he is currently concentrating on practices that can optimize students' learning in computer science undergraduate education.
Jaime won the CICS College Outstanding Teaching Award in 2024. He is currently the Associate Chair for Community, Equity, and Belonging at CICS, as well as a member of the Campus Faculty Senate, where he serves on the subcommittees for Undergraduate Education and General Education requirements.
