Summer & Fall 2024 Registration Updates
If you are unable to self-enroll, please make sure to first READ YOUR ERROR MESSAGE AND THE CLASS NOTES IN SPIRE, then refer to this page for known issues/updates for registration in CICS, COMPSCI, and INFO courses.

Eligible non-CS and non-INFORM majors will have the opportunity to enroll beginning August 1, 2024. Eligible non-majors should wait for the major eligibility restriction to be removed to self-enroll or add to the waitlist (if available) and SHOULD NOT REQUEST AN OVERRIDE.
Students needing special permission or who are still having unexpected issues enrolling should submit an override request via the Override Form.
COMPSCI Courses
COMPSCI 220, 230, 240, AND 250
Seats are being saved for incoming transfer students until the end of New Student Orientation and Transfer (NSOT) enrollment period at the end of July 2024. Remaining seats will be released at that time. Students needing special permission must request an override via the online form.

This course will introduce NLP methods and applications, such as text classification, sentiment analysis, machine translation, and other applications to identify and use the meaning of text. During the course, students will (1) learn fundamental methods and algorithms for NLP; (2) become familiar with key facts about human language that motivate them, and help practitioners know what problems are possible to solve; and (3) complete a series of hands-on projects to use, implement, experiment with, and improve NLP tools. This course counts as a CS Elective for the CS Major. Prerequisite: COMPSCI 220 and COMPSCI 240, or LINGUIST 429B (previously LINGUIST 492B). 3 credits.

If you are a CICS transfer student and a Junior or Senior based on your total credits but have not had the chance to take CICS 256 in Fall 2024, submit an override request once the form opens on Monday, April 29, 2024.
