Research

Dr. Zhang's recent research focus on 1) Economic Data Science, including the application and analysis of Economic theories in web applications such as recommendation, search, and sharing economy, especially on Internet Welfare related issues; 2) Explainable machine learning and its application to recommendation and search; 3) Conversational search, recommendation, and question answering systems.

Biography

Dr. Zhang received his PhD in Computer Science degree from the Department of Computer Science at Tsinghua University in the year of 2016, and prior to that he got his BE in Computer Science degree from he same institution. He also got the BS in Economics degree from the National School of Development at Peking University. During 2015-2016 he was an Assistant Specialist in Computer Science in the School of Engineering at UC Santa Cruz. After that he joined UMass CICS as a Postdoc Research Associate with Prof. Bruce Croft. His main research interests include Economic Data Science, Personalization Theories, Recommendation, IR, and Sentiment Analysis.
