Michael is a senior software engineer interested in all aspects of Artificial Intelligence and the art and science of software engineering. He is currently working with Professor Andrew McCallum in the Information Extraction and Synthesis Laboratory (IESL). Prior to IESL, he worked in the Center for Intelligent Information Retrieval (CIIR) under Professor James Allan. Michael started programming on a TI99/4A which had a 3MHz processor, 16K of RAM, and "saving" a program meant transferring it to an audio cassette. He received his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute then set out to the "real world" where he had a career that spanned all aspects of software development including writing video games for the blind. Outside of work, Michael is a mentor at Valley Venture Mentors where they help encourage entrepreneurship in Western Massachusetts. You can find a bit more about Michael at aiGuru.com.
