Michael is a software engineer and researcher in the Information Extraction and Synthesis Laboratory (IESL). He is one of the main developers of OpenReview, a flexible, cloud-based web interface and underlying database API, designed to promote openness in scientific communication and the peer review process. Before joining IESL, Michael was a researcher at Charles River Analytics, where he worked on adaptive training systems for the Navy and the Missile Defense Agency. Michael received his bachelor's and master's degrees in cognitive science at Brown University, where he worked on automated systems for detecting children at risk for Autism Spectrum Disorder based on free-play behaviors.
