Ankit's current research is primarily focused on designing resource-efficient large scale storage systems and employing coding theoretic ideas to enable reliable sensing, learning, and distributed computation.


Ankit is currently a joint postdoc at UMass Amherst and MIT. Earlier, during 2015-16, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Computer Science Department at CMU. Ankit received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology at Kanpur in 2010 and his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UT Austin in 2015. He has held summer internships at Bell Labs in Murray Hill, NJ, and Docomo Innovations Inc. in Palo Alto, CA.

Activities & Awards

Ankit is a recipient of the Microelectronics and Computer Development Fellowship from UT Austin. He serves as a reviewer of various top venues/journals in coding theory, information theory, communications, networking, signal processing, and machine learning.
