Interests

Modeling, analysis and algorithm design of social and computer networks; online learning and online algorithm design; data science and data analytics; Internet of Things, statistical inference (anomaly detection and quickest change detection in large datasets); optimization in large-scale systems;  game theory, network economics and mechanism design.

Research

Jian's current research focuses on computer networks, like content caching networks, large-scale multi-agents networks and social networks, with an emphasis on fundamental mathematical modeling and algorithms that improve network performance, and validation using data gathered from real world networks. 

Biography

Jian received his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Texas A&M University in December, 2016, and B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in June, 2012. He joined the College of Information and Computer Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in January 2017 working with Prof. Don Towsley.
