Biography

Renee Fall leads efforts to broaden participation in computing in Massachusetts and across the U.S. through educational policy reform, teacher training, and outreach. She is co-principal investigator of the National Science Foundation-funded Expanding Computing Education Pathways Alliance (ECEP), based at UMass Amherst and Georgia Tech. She is also project manager for the Commonwealth Alliance for Information Technology Education (CAITE), director of the western Massachusetts hub of the Massachusetts Exploring Computer Science Partnership (MECSP), organizer of Massachusetts Mobile Computer Science Principles professional development, and a liaison to Massachusetts chapters of the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA). She plans and implements research-based projects, raises and oversees grant funds, and hires and manages staff. She brings more than 20 years' experience in higher education administration, specializing in inter-institutional cooperation, academic program management and development, fundraising, and communications. Prior to coming to CICS, she worked at UMass Amherst Continuing & Professional Education, Five Colleges, Incorporated, and Radcliffe College. She holds a bachelor of arts degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota, a master's degree from Harvard Divinity School, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in higher education research, policy, and leadership at the University of Massachusetts Amherst's College of Education.
