Liangliang has broad interests in AI and its applications. He believes there is still a long way before artificial general intelligence, but a number of exciting changes will come soon. He advocates the collaboration between industry and academic, and hopes to facilitate innovations in researching and teaching. 


Liangiang received his Ph.D. from UIUC in 2011, M. Phil. from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2005, and Bachelor from University of Science and Technology of China in 2003. He worked as a Research Staff Member at IBM Watson Research Center from 2011 to 2015 and a Senior Scientist at Yahoo! Research from 2015 to 2016. He co-found ed  Switi Inc. (aka HelloVera AI) in 2016. He is a (non-paid) technical advisor for several start-ups and Venture Capital. He is also an adjunct faculty member at Columbia University from 2013 to 2018.

Liangliang is a senior member of IEEE and a member of ACM. He regularly serves in the communities by co-organizing or chairing workshops and conferences, as well as editing a few journal special issues.
