Professor Venkataramani joined the faculty in the University of Massachusetts Amherst College of Information and Computer Sciences in 2005 as an Assistant Professor. He became an Associate Professor in Fall 2010.
Professor Venkataramani was the co-recipient of the J.C. Browne Fellowship that is awarded to an outstanding graduate student in Computer Sciences at UT Austin. He was ranked in the top 40 among more than 100,000 candidates from around India in the entrance examination to the IITs.
