CICS to Recognize Recipients of 2023 Outstanding Achievement & Advocacy Awards 

Outstanding Achievement & Advocacy

On March 31, the Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS) will honor the recipients of its 2023 Outstanding Achievement and Advocacy (OAA) awards.

Now in its fourteenth year, the OAA awards program celebrates the remarkable accomplishments of selected alumni and community members. The awardees will be honored at a banquet and ceremony, beginning with a 5:00 p.m. reception in the UMass Amherst Old Chapel. 

"This year's OAA awardees represent an impressive cross-section of what can be accomplished with a computing degree, from health care to intelligent systems to information retrieval," says CICS dean Laura Haas. "I'm extraordinarily proud of the important work our graduates are doing out in the world and pleased to welcome them back to campus to receive their awards." 

This year's honorees are: 

Outstanding Achievement in Management 
For excellence in leadership and innovation

Outstanding Achievement in Technology Development 
For outstanding contributions in building intelligent systems and solutions  
Prasanta Bose '83MS  
CTO, Cityzenith 

Outstanding Achievement by a Recent Graduate
For outstanding achievement in information retrieval at an early stage of his career 
Jeff Dalton '14PhD  
Associate Professor, University of Glasgow
