CICS in the News: ‘Tech Trek’ Showcases Big Data Initiatives in Pioneer Valley

Andrew McCallum, CICS professor and director of the Center for Data Science, Mark McCartin-Lim, doctoral student in computer science, and Mark Maier, CICS alum (Ph.D. '14), were mentioned in articles about MassTech Collaborative's "Tech Trek" event held September 28 in Amherst MA. 

Part of the state's big-data initiative, the 'Trek' brought together experts in a variety of fields, as well as faculty, researchers, and students from the area's Five Colleges to highlight the importance of data science and its applications.  

The event also served a grand opening for MassMutual's new Amherst location in the newly constructed Kendrick Place which will serve as a workspace for up to 60 MassMutual data scientists.
