Job Description:

This position is a Postdoctoral Research Associate within the Machine Learning for Data Science Lab at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The research area is machine learning with a focus on probabilistic models for multivariate time series data. This position will be funded by the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) and will involve collaboration with a research project team distributed across several US universities.

 

* Contributing to research including developing, implementing, evaluating and documenting machine learning models, algorithms, and software packages.

* Contributing to writing research articles, and preparing and delivering presentations describing the research.

* Contributing to the preparation of reports describing the status and progress of the research.

* Supporting collaboration with other members of the research project team.

* Attending and presenting at site visits and other project team meetings including teleconference and video conference-based meetings.

 

 

Requirements:

* Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field.

* Capacity for excellent research, as demonstrated by publications and other professional activities, appropriate to the number of years in the field.

* Expertise with programming languages appropriate to the specific field of study.

* Expertise with building and maintaining software systems.

* Familiarity with one or more specialized subareas of investigation within Computer Science.

* Ability to work with a minimal amount of supervision.

 

Additional Information:

 

The annual salary range is $60,000-$70,000 (dependent upon experience) with full benefits.

 

Anticipated appointment begin date is August 1, 2017 (negotiable) for one year and may be renewable, contingent upon funding.
