CPT Policy for International MS Students

Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is defined as employment which is an integral part of an established curriculum, including: "alternate work/study, internship, cooperative education, or any other type of required internship or practicum which is offered by sponsoring employers through cooperative agreements with the school." Source: [8 CFR 214.2(f)(10)(i)]. 

CPT is available only prior to the completion of your degree program and you must have a job offer at the time of application. CPT employment may not delay completion of the academic program.

To apply for Summer CPT, students must complete the following steps:

  • Enroll in one credit, Pass/Fail, of CICS 496T through CPE. Form Can be found here.
  • CPT Form from IPO should be brought to the main office for signature. Form will be placed in your mailbox when signed.
  • Signed form then needs to be brought to IPO for processing

Although this one-credit course will appear on your transcript, it does not count toward your MS degree requirements.

There is a $45 registration fee and $195 tuition fee associated with the Independent study.
