CPT Policy for International MS Students

Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is defined as employment which is an integral part of an established curriculum, including: "alternate work/study, internship, cooperative education, or any other type of required internship or practicum which is offered by sponsoring employers through cooperative agreements with the school." Source: [8 CFR 214.2(f)(10)(i)].

CPT is available only prior to the completion of your degree program and you must have a job offer at the time of application. CPT employment may not delay completion of the academic program.

To apply for Summer CPT, students must bring the following to the Graduate Program Manager for Processing:

  • Enroll in one credit, Pass/Fail, of CICS 496T through CPE. Registration form can be found here.
  • CPT Form from IPO should be brought to the main office for signature. Form will be placed in your mailbox when signed.
  • Signed forms then need to be brought to IPO for processing

Although this one-credit course will appear on your transcript, it does not count toward your MS degree requirements.

There is a $47 registration fee and $195 tuition fee associated with the Independent Study.
