Computational Social Science is a relatively new field of study that has emerged in the past two decades. What defines the field? What fits within the field and what lies outside of it? Where should the field be going? The UMass Computational Social Science Institute has assembled a panel of three CSS pioneers — Sandra Matz, Sendhil Mullainathan, and Duncan Watts — to discuss these questions and more.
This event is hosted by the UMass Computational Social Science Institute (CSSI), a diverse interdisciplinary community using computational models and methods to help us understand the social world. CSSI hosts periodic talks and workshops related to current events and longer-term research in computational social science.
