Being Alive into the Future!

Presented by Shakti Butler of World Trust and Amikaeyla Gaston of the International Cultural Arts and Healing Sciences Institute.

Can we envision, together, what it would be like if the world was working? What if people living in a global future embodied social decency, equity, community involvement, empowerment and felt good about being alive! By focusing on building socially just, and resilient economies from the ground up rather than a continued submission to extractivist business models, we take this time to ask ourselves ~ What would that world look, feel and be like if we actually transitioned into a healthier world? Can you imagine that?

To create a viable future, we must be able to imagine positive, enticing visions of a future in which all of our understanding about fairness, access and well-being is coming to fruition. We must 'test drive' our ideas within collaborative structures and gatherings. There are examples of how this new futurism is being made manifest all over the world. Using creativity and play, we can harness our activism and bring forth a future driven by an economy of well-being that rebalances power and health. As futurist Grace Turtle states, "... play is a political instrument. If we're making a political decision around how we want to exist in the world then we need to think about the impossible." Imagination and play can inspire and open pathways to what may appear unknowable or unachievable.

In this live stream we will share what it means for us to come together in a time when people, individually and collectively, may be even more aware of feeling isolated, alone, and afraid. We need to inflame hopes, ideas, dreams. Our belief is that we can reignite our collective imaginations in ways that inform a redesign of the future. Can we heal ourselves and grow well-being in our communities? Can we create and experience a liberated future with full freedom of self and others in mind?

Through the power of visionary artists, activists, scientists, and seekers we will meld music and visual artistry into nuanced thought conversations. By building community, relationships, and exploring global transformation that is taking place in so many communities, we will take advantage of this moment in time to encourage dreaming while advancing a future infused with connection, wisdom and well-being!
