Microsoft Azure: Inside the Network of the World's Largest Data Centers

Dave Maltz from Microsoft will be hosting a talk on "How Cloud Computing Really Works".

"At the heart of a computing cloud is an amazing network that must provide tremendous bandwidth at high availability and low cost between servers all around the world. Combining physical switches, optical devices, and Software Defined Networking, these networks offer every tenant its own completely customizable virtual network while enabling the cloud platform to optimize its resource usage and automatically mitigate faulty equipment. Drawing examples from Microsoft Azure, I will explain how large cloud networks are designed and operated. If you've heard about cloud computing and want to know what the excitement is about and have a peek inside the "engine," this talk will give you an overview. You will also leave with insights on how to structure applications intended to run in the cloud to maximize their performance and reliability."

His talk will be followed by Q&A and career networking.
