Tech Talks and Company Overview

"iPad and iPhone Development at Lutron": Apple's success with the iPhone and iPad has created opportunities in almost every industry. There is an app for just about everything on the App Store. Lutron creates solutions that control the lights in an entire home. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to control your lights using your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad? What if you were on vacation and wanted to check whether or not you turned your lights off? Could the iPhone help an installer set up a lighting system in a home? Lutron has created innovative solutions for all of these problems using Apple's iOS SDK. In this discussion, we'll talk about the iOS development process and how Lutron has delivered successful apps to its customers.

"Embedded Wireless Network Debugging" - Network protocols bring order to chaos. They exist to provide a coherent strategy for communication among a group of independent nodes by specifying who talks, when they talk, and how they talk. While a number of considerations go into design of any network protocol, their intent is basically the same. They provide the greatest possible confidence that, if the rules are followed, a transmitted message will arrive intact. But what happens if the rules aren't followed? What happens when a network node misbehaves? How would you know which node it was or how to debug it if you did? Lutron Engineers have faced problems like these in the design of their own proprietary wireless network for lighting control. In this discussion, we'll talk about some of the problems we faced and how we found and ultimately fixed them.

Lutron has a number of positions available. They will discuss recruiting with interested students.
