CICS Social Media Ambassador

Job Description: The College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS) is now accepting applications from CICS students interested in helping the college create and curate fun, engaging, student-centered content for CICS Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram channels.

Undergraduate and graduate computer science and informatics students interested in social media, video production, marketing, and photography are invited to apply. 

The ideal candidate is a connected, involved current student who can accurately and professionally convey their CICS experiences to a wide array of audiences, including prospective students and families, current faculty/students/staff, alumni, employers, and friends.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the CICS Director of External Relations, develop content for CICS branded social media channels Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Maintain social media editorial calendar; contribute to the development of a CICS social media strategy
  • Monitor social media metrics and create reports
  • Attend and cover college events, including lectures, workshops, student organization meetings, and social gatherings
  • Attend weekly communications and external relations production meetings
  • Abide by University policies as outlined by the Office of Student Affairs and Student Life

Qualifications

  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Strong knowledge of and passion for the UMass Amherst College of Information and Computer Sciences
  • Ability to edit/create engaging graphics using Adobe Photoshop, Canva, or other graphics software
  • Interest in learning about and implementing new social media/marketing technologies
  • (preferred) Familiarity with social media management software (e.g., Hootsuite)
  • (preferred) Videography experience; familiarity with video editing software (e.g., Premiere, Final Cut Pro)
