Our CICS Careers team is mostly students like you because our #1 priority is student success. We are looking for more Career Developers to join our team, helping hundreds of your peers discover, explore, and pursue professional experiences. In the process, you will advance your own career, gaining skills while having fun. Together, we will make an impact serving the students, alumni, employers, faculty, and staff who make up our vibrant and growing CICS career community.

How you will make a difference

Career Advising: Coach students on job/internship search strategy, behavioral and technical interviewing, resume and LinkedIn profiles, career options, and networking;  assist students with creating personalized career plans.

Event Planning: Help organize career events including the Tech Fair, ATCI, Startup Recruiting Night, Boston Startup Recruiting Expo, Tech Tango, Slack AMAs, and Top Employer workshops; collaborate with hackathon and student organizations, as well as other UMass career centers.

Strategic Marketing: Promote CICS Careers resources and programming using our website, Handshake, and social media accounts; develop experiments to increase student engagement; create innovative ways to share student, alumni, and employer success stories.

Career Education Resources: Develop high quality, scalable resources to prepare students no matter where they are on their career journey; identify gaps in resources, track industry news, and continuously improve our career content.

Analytics: Wrangle, analyze and visualize career engagement and satisfaction data from multiple systems to make strategic decisions; contribute to the Careers surveys on internships and post-graduation outcomes to generate our annual Destination Report.

Employer Relations: Engage employers of various sizes and industries to recruit CICS students for internships and jobs; support the CICS Recruiting Program members with creative campus recruiting; build relationships with alumni to encourage recruiting and mentoring.

About You (Or Future You)

UMass Student

  • Computer Science, Informatics, or IT Minor
  • BS, BA, MS, PhD
  • Class of 2024, Class of 2025, or Class of 2026
  • Active campus involvement - WiCS, HackHer413, HackUMass, UCA, Peer Mentor, RA, Fresh CICS, ACM

Authentic - High integrity standards, celebrates diversity (bilingual, first-generation)

Innovator - Personal projects, risk-taking entrepreneur, ready for creative "idea jams"
