The Department hosted a social gathering for UMass Amherst CS alums at Google's Cambridge, MA facility. With over 125 people registered, the night was a great opportunity for our guests to talk with UMass Amherst Chancellor Kumble R. Subbaswamy, CNS Dean Steve Goodwin, fellow alums, CS faculty, and some of our students nearing graduation. CS Associate Professor David Jensen, Director of the Knowledge Discovery Laboratory gave a presentation, "From Big Data to Effective Action."

WHERE: Google, Inc. in Kendall Square; 3 Cambridge Center, Cambridge, MA
REGISTER: Please be sure to register by September 23rd, so that you will be added to the guest list to be given to the security folks at the Google building. If a spouse/significant other will be joining you, please register for him/her as well. (http://umasscsalumsocial2012.eventbrite.com)

Logistics: The alum social will be held in Google's Chatham cafe at 3 Cambridge Center (meet in the lobby of 3 Cambridge Center), Cambridge, MA. Google's 5 Cambridge Center building is at the corner of Ames and Main Streets directly above Legal Sea Foods Restaurant, conveniently located at a T-stop (Kendall Square); 3 Cambridge Center is to the right of 5 Cambridge Center. Public parking is available at the Cambridge Center East Garage (you'll need to turn onto Ames Street from Main Street in order to access the garage). Some on-street parking should also be available.
