Professor Moll's primary research area is in interactive web-based education. He is currently principal investigator on a grant from the U.S. Department of Education entitled "Building a Java Instructor Community: An Online Plan for Improving Introductory Computer Science Teaching and Learning". Professor Moll also has a continuing interest in AI methods applied to combinatorial optimization.
PhD Mathematics, MIT (1973), B.S.and M.S. in Mathematics from Carnegie-Mellon University. He joined the faculty of the College of Information and Computer Sciences at the University of Massachusetts in 1973.
Professor Moll served as the Computer Science Department's Associate Chair for Academic Programs. He was a 2005-2006 recipient of the College of Natural Science and Mathematics Outstanding Faculty Service Award.
